Leak at autogas station snarls traffic near airport

Rush hour traffic near the airport area in southern Metro Manila was snarled Monday due to a leak in an autogas station in the area. A report by radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad said firefighters managed to clear the place of possible danger at 6:50 a.m., some 40 minutes after the leak was reported. "Gas leak lang ito ... 40 minutes naka-spread out sa karatig lugar. Wala na ito, pagdating namin na-spread out namin ng tubig ang tangke para mawala ang usok (It was a gas leak. It spread for 40 minutes but when we arrived, we doused the tank to get rid of the smoke)," said Senior Fire Officer 2 Felix Lesarte. The dzBB report said the leaking autogas station was near the corner of Domestic Road and Andrews Avenue. Firefighters had to close the portion of the road while they tried to contain the leak. A separate report on dzXL radio said police have started investigating the circumstances that led to the incident. — LBG, GMANews.TV
