International management group seriously pursuing Patrombon

After making his presence felt in the international tennis circuit, young Filipino netter Jeson Patrombon has now caught the fancy of an international management group. Global Tennis Connections officials signified their intentions in adding the up-and-coming Pinoy tennis star to their growing list of players in their wing. This was revealed by Manny Tecson, Patrombon’s coach. Tecson said Patrombon was given an offer while he was competing in French Open in the junior division. The international group was impressed with the progress of Patrombon, who continued to improve his rankings in the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The group was more impressed when 17-year old netter pulled off a king-sized upset over world’s No.7-ranked Kevin Kraweitz of Germany when they met in the Italian Open. The Global Tennis Connections has managed several ATP, WTA and ITF players who compete in the Grandslam events and Pro tour and is willing to help Patrombon compete in major events aside from offering training sites in Europe, America and Asia. “The management group will handle all our marketing, tournaments and sponsorships and if we sign with them, they hope to begin before the US Open Grand Slam this year," said Tecson. Tecson said the decision will come from Congressman Romeo Jalosjos, who helped Patrombon in competing in and outside the country, whether to accept the offer or not. “Nothing is official and concrete yet but the fact that they are approaching us is a good sign that this management company is noticing our efforts. Not everyone is being approached and I believe they can see something in us," added Tecson. Ranked 46th in the world, Patrombon sets foot in his first ever Grandslam event for the year as he sees action in the first round against 97th-ranked Miki Jankovic of Serbia. Patrombon is the lone Filipino in the main draw of the singles event as Francis Casey Alcantara who is a scholar of the ITF, failed to advance after losing to New Zealand’s Sebastian Llave, 3-6, 2-6, in the first match of the qualifying round. But Alcantara will be seeing action in the boy’s doubles and will be partnered with Fil-Am Raymond Sarmiento. This is the second time that Alcantara and Sarmiento are teaming up after winning the Mitsubishi Lancer International Tennis Championships in Manila. The pair will face Filip Horansky and Jozef Kovalik of Slovak Republic in the first round. Patrombon will be paired with Ahmed Triki of Tunisia. They will play against the duo of Romain Arneodo and Mathias Bourgue of France. - RCJ, GMANews.TV
