Meralco: Rotational brownouts to hit Metro Manila, Cavite

Residents in parts of the National Capital Region and Cavite province may have to brace for one-hour rotational brownouts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, an official of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said. Meralco's Cecille de Guia said the brownouts stemmed from lower power supply expected for the day. "Magkakaroon ang Meralco ng rotational brownout. Ito ay tentative one-hour interruption, ang window natin 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (We will have one-hour rotational brownouts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)," De Guia said in an interview on dzBB radio. In a separate interview on dzXL radio, she said the affected areas include major portions of Quezon City such as Kaunlaran, San Francisco and Balintawak. Also to be affected are Pamplona in Las Piñas City, Manila, Imus and Trece Martires City in Cavite. Meralco's 9,337-square-kilometer franchise area covers 29 cities and 82 towns including Metro Manila, the entire provinces of Bulacan, Rizal and Cavite; and parts of Laguna, Quezon and Batangas; and 17 barangays in Pampanga. — LBG, GMANews.TV
