Report: Rains trigger floods in parts of Mindanao

Heavy rains triggered flooding in several parts of Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao and Cotabato City before dawn Tuesday. A report on dzXL radio said the rains at about 4 a.m. triggered waist- and neck-deep floods, which stalled vehicles along the national highway in Cotabato City. The report also said some 23 of the 37 villages in the city were flooded. On the other hand, several houses in Bulalo village in Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao were flooded while traffic in many parts of the area was snarled. State weather forecasters earlier said a low-pressure area off Batanes and the "Amihan" (northeast winds) will bring rains to parts of the country. — LBG, GMANews.TV
