Gun ban violators nearing 3,000 mark, police say

The number of individuals who violated the Philippines’ election gun ban is nearing the 3,000 mark, the national police force said. With just one more week to go, gun ban violators have climbed to 2,951, a report on dzXL radio said on Tuesday, citing figures from Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina's office. Of these, more than 200 were government employees, including members of the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. State security forces also seized 2,562 firearms, 846 gun replicas, 673 bladed weapons and 279 explosives since January 10, the beginning of the gun ban, the PNP said. The gun ban, implemented by the Commission on Elections, aims to minimize election-related violent incidents and runs until June 9. Do you think that the total gun ban should be made permanent?
