One of four people reported missing in sea mishap found dead

At least one of four people reported missing after a boat they were on capsized off Cagayan last weekend was found dead off an island near the area. The body of Dionicio Pancho, 60, was recovered at the shoreline of Sitio Modok in Fuga Island at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Philippine Coast Guard said on Wednesday. Three other passengers remain missing and rough sea conditions hampered search operations, the agency said on its website. Pancho's wife Maria, 60; Maricon Fernando, 26; and a still-unidentified one-year-old boy are still missing. Until weather conditions improve, village officials and relatives of the missing persons were limited to "foot patrol" along the island’s shorelines, the Coast Guard said. The four passengers were reported missing after the ill-fated motor banca Cosme capsized off Pata Point in Claveria town in Cagayan at 9:30 a.m. Sunday after encountering big waves. Passengers of the banca had planned to sell their products at Claveria town in Cagayan and to buy provisions for their families in Fuga Island. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
