Sow gives birth to Siamese-twin pigs in Negros facility

A large white sow gave birth to Siamese-twin piglets at a government piggery facility in Negros Occidental province in the morning of Wednesday, Negros-based news website Visayan Daily Star reported. The twins have received special attention at the Sagay City government piggery, the website said, quoting Marlyn Manuel, the project officer of the city’s Swine Development and Dispersal Program.

The Siamese-twin piglets, connected at the stomach and have only one umbilical cord, are "very pink and cute," Manuel added. "If they can’t be separated, we will just have to raise them the way they are," she said. However, the city veterinarian has yet to determine whether the two piglets can be separated. The Siamese-twin piglets were among six piglets born from the sow last Wednesday. All six appeared very healthy, she said. The piggery farm is a project of Sagay Mayor Alfredo Marañon, allowing residents to raise pigs as a backyard livelihood program. - RJAB Jr./LBG, GMANews.TV
