Thieves steal heads of images in Cebu church


Unidentified thieves broke into a Catholic church in Cebu province and stole the heads of two images there worth some P60, 000. A report on radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate said police suspect an inside job in the incident at Samboan town, as the thieves seemed to know their way around. Burglarized was the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church in Samboan in Cebu, which also lost P10,000 cash in the vault of the parish office. Initial investigation showed one of the suspects sneaked into the church through a plywood-covered portion of the wall. The intruder then opened the main door where the other suspects were waiting. They then proceeded to take the money, and the heads of the images of the Blessed Virgin and St. Veronica. The report said the heads were made of ivory, and were worth P30,000 each. — LBG, GMANews.TV
