Cops focus on 3 possible motives in killing of BSP head’s brod, 2 others

Police are now zeroing in on three motives in the murder of a brother of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando Tetangco and two others earlier this week. Investigators are also reconstructing the last three hours before the victims were murdered, Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said Saturday. “Maaaring mga motibo rito, robbery, gambling activities, or business rivalry. Malalaman natin yan in a few days (We see the likely motives as robbery, gambling and business rivalry. We expect to thresh this out in a few days)," Espina said on government-run dzRB radio. He said a task force has been formed to investigate the incident, adding that the victims seemed to have been killed elsewhere before being brought to Angeles City. Members of the task force include the Central Luzon regional police, the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and Angeles City police. The bodies of Governor Tetangco’s brother Rene; trader Florencio Yap, and Yap’s aide Dennis Guinto were found in a Ford Expedition SUV Thursday. Rene Tetangco is also the uncle of Apalit, Pampanga Mayor Jun Tetangco, while Yap is the son of the owner of a local hardware store. The victims bore gunshot wounds in different parts of the body when found inside a Ford Expedition (YAT-225) Thursday morning. Sketchy initial reports showed the vehicle was parked near a Korean Christian church. Espina said investigators are trying to reconstruct the three-hour gap between 7 and 10 p.m. of the night the victims were believed killed. “Pinaniniwalaan ng pulis sa Region 3 (Central Luzon police believe) they were killed somewhere else then dumped just to mislead investigators," he said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
