Report: NPA member killed in Davao Oriental clash

A suspected communist New People's Army (NPA) rebel was killed in an encounter with government troops in Davao Oriental Friday night, a report said. Radio dzXL reported Saturday the clash between the NPA's Front 18 and the Army's 28th Infantry Battalion occurred in Lupon town in Davao Oriental. The report quoted Capt. Emmanuel Garcia, spokesman of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, as saying the NPA rebels were harassing workers of an infrastructure project in Banay-Banay in Davao Oriental when the soldiers came. Recovered from the site was an M-16 rifle, supposedly left behind by the rebels. — LBG, GMANews.TV
