Shootout among Cagayan gov's bodyguards kills 2

Two people were killed Sunday night when a firefight erupted among the bodyguards of Cagayan Governor Alvaro Antonio in front of his house in Quezon City, a television report said Monday. A report over QTV’s “Balitanghali" identified the fatalities as Allan Piesmen and Joel Buclog, who were killed past 9 p.m. Sunday following a heated argument with the governor’s other security personnel during a drinking spree. The incident happened outside of Governor Antonio’s house in Avalon Street in North Fairview Subdivision, Quezon City. A security guard in the subdivision said gunshots were heard from the house around 9:30 p.m.
"'Yung una, dalawang putok, tapos 'yung sumunod, tuluy-tuloy na. Nagpunta kami rito pero hanggang diyan lang kami kasi natatakot kami kasi maraming tao," said subdivision security guard Valentino Medios III. (At first we only heard two shots, then came more. We went to the scene of the crime but were unable to get near as people were massing up and we got scared.) An M-16 rifle was reportedly used based on bullet cartridges recovered from the area. Police are now tracking down three suspects, all of whom are also Antonio's bodyguards. Only SPO3 Eliseo Vergara Jr. has been identified. The suspects fled the scene using two white Pajero vans owned by Antonio, according to Medios. Antonio said he was surprised by the incident, saying he even gave his guards money for a drinking spree to celebrate Vergara's birthday. —KBK/RSJ, GMANews.TV
