Arroyo returns from China trip


Less than 12 hours after her successor was proclaimed in Congress, outgoing President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo returned to the country from a visit to China before dawn Thursday. Radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported that Mrs. Arroyo arrived in Manila from Shanghai around 1:45 a.m., and is scheduled to visit Bicol Thursday morning. Mrs. Arroyo was to visit and inspect the construction of classrooms in the region, the report added. The outgoing president, who will represent Pampanga in the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress, went to China to mark Philippine National Day there. She attended the Philippine National Day Commemorative Ceremony at the Central Hall of the Shanghai World Expo Center, and marked the 35th anniversary of the Philippines-China diplomatic relations. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
