Member of Cory's security team to head Noynoy's PSG

President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has chosen a member of his late mother's Presidential Security Group (PSG) to be the head of his own security team once he takes over as president on June 30. At a press briefing inside his house in Times Street, Quezon City, Aquino said Col. Ramon Dizon, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy class '83, was his personal choice. "Initially I first met him when he was part of PSG during my mom's time. He has proven himself competent in all assignments he had to handle. And the assignments were not clerical positions," he said. Aquino said Dizon served his mother, the late President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, for two years and was among those who defended her from rebel soldiers during the 1989 coup d’etat. At present, Dizon is commander of the Philippine Army's Joint Special Operations Group. In an interview with reporters, Dizon said heading Aquino's security team would be a "very big responsibility." "I've been there, I know what is expected. I am trying to choose the right people," he said. Dizon said he was also part of former President Fidel V. Ramos's PSG for six years and of former President Joseph Estrada's during the first 10 months of his administration. - Jam Sisante/KBK, GMANews.TV
