Report: Lightning kills 2 in Cagayan Valley

Lightning killed at least two people and injured at least seven in separate incidents in Cagayan Valley over the weekend, a radio report said. In Apayao province, radio dzRH reported Monday that Carlo Gawiran, 24; and Melvin Manuel, 16, were killed while planting rice in Malayugan village in Flora town. At least six other farmers were injured after lightning struck them while they were planting rice, the report said. In Baggao town in Cagayan, lightning struck and injured Wilmer Castillo at 4 p.m. Sunday at Sadlang village. Castillo was closing his window amid heavy rain when he was hit by lightning.
