PAGASA: Clear weather in 1st week of classes

Clear weather will welcome students in the first week of School Year 2010-2011, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Tuesday. PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez, however, said rains and thunderstorms could be expected from late afternoon to evening. "May ridge of a high-pressure area kaya ibig sabihin medyo maganda ang panahon nitong week na ito (There is a ridge of a high-pressure area so we can expect the weather to be relatively clear)," she said in an interview on dzBB radio. Still, she said there is the possibility of rains and thunderstorms, "pag gabi kung pauwi na sila (at night when the students are going home)." PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is affecting Mindanao while the ridge of an HPA is extending across Luzon and Visayas. "Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added. PAGASA also said temperature ranges for Metro Manila will be from 26 to 36 degrees Celsius, and 22 to 36 degrees in Tuguegarao City. — LBG, GMANews.TV
