Report: 5-year-old girl dies in predawn Bacolod fire

A five-year-old girl died in a predawn fire that hit their boardinghouse in Bacolod City Wednesday, a radio report said. DzXL reported the charred body of Lorraine Jamora was recovered from the remains of the boardinghouse at Alijis village in Bacolod City. The fire started at 3 a.m. and was placed under control after more than an hour. Arson investigators are verifying information that the victim was a daughter of a police officer of the city's police force. Initial investigation showed the girl was trapped in the five-door boardinghouse during the fire. Arson investigators are looking into claims that the fire may have stemmed from an electrical short circuit as there was a brownout in the area before the fire occurred. They estimated the damage to property at P1 million. — LBG, GMANews.TV
