2 inmates escape from Davao Norte jail, police say

Two detainees escaped from their cells in Davao del Norte province on Thursday morning, police said. In a text message, Philippine National Police Region 11 spokesperson Superintendent Querubin Malang said Louie Aprosta and Celimito Zamora escaped the Buruea of Jail Management and Penology old building in Panabo City at about 1:20 a.m. Aprosta is charged with illegal possession of firerarms and attempted homicide and murder while Zamora is facing drug-related charges. "The cell rooms number 1, 2, and 3 of the old building were opened for the inmates to have their personal necessities. [Aprosta and Zamora] took advantage of the situation to escape just in front of Post Number 3 which was left by the guard," Malang said.
