Refrain from watching games on TV, Comelec workers told

Just after the Los Angeles Lakers won their 16th NBA championship, a Commission on Elections (Comelec) official on Friday said the poll body will be issuing a reminder to all their employees to refrain from watching games during work hours. The poll body’s personnel department will issue a reminder to all their employees to avoid watching basketball games and other similar events during work hours, spokesman James Jimenez said. "If productivity suffered, that might be something we might not be okay with... (we have) to keep instances like that at a minimum," Jimenez told reporters in an interview on Friday. He likewise reminded their employees that the television sets inside the offices are meant to monitor the news, and not watch basketball games. However, he noted that if their work is in no way interrupted by the activity, then they will not be reprimanded. "If they're doing their work anyway, that might be something we can forgive them (for)," he said. On Friday (Thursday night in LA) , the Lakers edged out the Boston Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the NBA finals. — RJAB Jr./RSJ, GMANews.TV
