Microsoft: Windows 7 license sales hit 150-M

Microsoft's Windows development team posted on its blog that, as of June 23 (June 24 in the Philippines), the software giant had already sold 150 million licenses for its Windows 7 software. "Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in history with 7 copies sold every second," claimed Microsoft Communications Manager for Windows Brandon LeBlanc. LeBlanc attributed the sales boom in part to strong support from the business sector. "Between companies actively deploying and evaluating it, approximately 75% of enterprises are looking at Windows 7 for their organization," he said, citing data from Microsoft's corporate vice president and chief financial officer for Windows, Tami Reller. Beginning tomorrow, June 24 (June 25 in the Philippines), Microsoft will be releasing new beta versions of Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, and Sync, according to LeBlanc. The applications are part of the Windows Live Essentials software package, which is Microsoft's major foray into social media. " What the new Windows Live Essentials does is blends together the best of the PC with the best of the cloud," LeBlanc concluded. - GMANews.TV
