Education execs welcome Luistro as next DepEd chief

Education officials welcomed the appointment of Bro. Armin Luistro as the new head of the department. "We look forward to working for the improvement of the education sector under his leadership," said Department of Education (DepEd) Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya in a text message to GMANews.TV. Speaking for current DepEd Secretary Mona Valisno and other officials, Malaya said they are "confident that Bro. Armin will lead the department in meeting" millennium development goals (MDGs). Drafted and approved by the United Nations, these goals intend to bring universal education for all and end poverty by 2015. Luistro will also bring the department to greater heights, the text message said. Luistro is the president of De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila. - Mark D. Merueñas/RJAB Jr/KBK, GMANews.TV
