Philippine share prices post slight gains

Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange posted slight gains in moderate trading Friday despite Wall Street's slump overnight. The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 18.49 points or 0.55 percent higher at 3,352.46, with 57 gainers, 38 losers, and 75 issues unchanged. Over 2.78 billion stocks worth P3.53 billion changed hands. Financial, service, and mining and oil stocks advanced while property and industrial stocks, as well as holding firms, declined. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 145.64 points on Thursday night, while the NASDAQ composite and S&P 500 index went down by 36.81 and 18.35 points, respectively. —Nikka Corsino/VS, GMANews.TV
