RP shares slightly up on month-end window-dressing

Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange closed slightly higher Monday, as traders and brokers prepare for the month-end window-dressing of books. The main PSE index advanced by 11.44 points or 0.34 percent to close at 3,363.9, with more than 4.24 billion shares worth P2.21 billion changing hands. Declines led advancers 64 to 43, while 67 issues closed unchanged. "I think a lot of the trades were done for the usual end of the month window-dressing of books," a trader with Eagle Equities Inc. told GMANews.TV. Wednesday would be a holiday for the inauguration of President-elect Benigno Aquino III, so the market is consolidating with the valuation of books for the month, the trader said.—VS, GMANews.TV
