PCG recovers body of male who drowned while harvesting sea shells


The body of a 19-year-old male who drowned while harvesting sea shells in Iloilo was recovered by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) last Friday. Personnel of the Special Operations Unit Western Visayas assigned at the PCG’s headquarters in Iloilo was able to recover the body of John Mark Vinson off the vicinity of Carpenters Bridge, Molo, Iloilo at one in the morning of June 25. The search for Vinson, a resident of Barangay Airport, Mandurriao, Iloilo, began after a search and rescue team was organized with staff of the 601.1 PCG Auxiliary at 8:30 p.m. on June 24. However, three hours later at 11:22 p.m., the operation was called off due to strong current, murky waters, and reduced visibility. The search resumed at one in the morning of June 25 and after an hour, Vinson’s body was found at the vicinity of the said bridge. At 2:20 a.m., operations were terminated as the corpse was turned over to the family. - RJAB Jr/KBK, GMANews.TV
