Noynoy shouldn't be distracted by Kris-James issue, Palace says

The incoming Philippine president shouldn’t allow himself to be distracted by the marital problems of his younger sister, Kris Aquino-Yap, the country’s so-called Queen of Talk. This was what an outgoing presidential spokesperson said on Monday, two days before President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III’s inaugural. While Aquino may choose to take spend time giving advice to his sister Kris and her husband basketball player James Yap, this shouldn’t occupy most of his time, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Gary Olivar said. “I would be surprised if he (Aquino) allows it to distract himself. There is no reason for me to believe that he lacks the maturity or the experience to be able to do that," Olivar said. The marital problems of Kris and Yap are between the both of them and not the incoming president, Olivar added. He also said that while Aquino, Kris and James are public figures, they still have the right to keep their affairs to themselves. “Certain boundaries must be observed between public and private lives, between the persona of President-elect as our president, and his identity as a family man as a brother of this or that person," Olivar said. Kris on Sunday announced that her marriage to Yap is already “over," adding that she has already given up on their relationship. She refused to elaborate for the sake of their son “Baby James." - RJAB Jr/KBK, GMANews.TV
