Imelda, Bongbong to take oath Tuesday at SC

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos and son Ferdinand “Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will take their respective oaths on Tuesday as congresswoman and senator, respectively, before Supreme Court Associate Diosdado Peralta. The widow of former President Ferdinand Marcos won a seat at the House of Representatives representing the second district of Ilocos Norte, while the younger Marcos placed seventh in the senatorial race during the May 10 elections. Bongbong, a former congressman, will become the highest nationally elected Marcos after his father was ousted from Malacañang during the 1986 People Power revolution, which also forced their family to flee the country to the United States where they stayed for several years. Imee Marcos, who won in the gubernatorial race in the same province, will not join her mother and brother in the oath-taking ceremony as she will lead the oath-taking of other local officials. Marcos spokesperson Sol Vanzi said the oath-taking would be held at Peralta’s office at the SC at 2:45 p.m., to be witnessed by other members of the family. Vanzi said the Marcoses chose Peralta to administer their oath because the magistrate is a native of Laoag City in Ilocos Norte. - KBK, GMANews.TV
