Thank-you ads for Arroyo appear in Tuesday's newspapers


On the eve of her official departure from Malacañang, outgoing President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was feted with thank-you newspaper ads from a government agency. The half-page ads, which appeared in major Metro Manila newspapers, were from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

"Dahil una sa puso ninyo ang kalusugan ng pamilyang Pilipino... 85% ng mamamayang Pilipino ang nagkaroon ng health insurance coverage sa ilalim ng inyong administrasyon (Because the health of the Filipino family is first in your heart, 85 percent of Filipinos now have health insurance coverage under your administration)," the ads read. "Maraming, maraming salamat po Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Thank you very much, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo)," they added. On Wednesday, Mrs. Arroyo formally steps down as president to give way to her successor, Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III.
