RP to place tender for 150,000 MT sugar

The Government is arranging for a sugar tender next week, the Sugar Regulatory Administration said Wednesday. “We have to bring in another 150,000 metric tons sugar for arrival before August 30," SRA chief Bernardo Trebol said in a text message to reporters. The additional shipment is expected to raise the country’s sugar buffer stock to 400,000 MT, and keep retail prices from spiraling beyond P52 per kilo. —VS, GMANews.TV
