Puyat verbally commits to play for Standford


Multi-titled Filipino amateur Marcel Puyat, a full-time US scholar, has verbally committed to play for Stanford University in the US NCAA. The Bradenton, Florida resident Puyat said that he chose Stanford since it has been his childhood dream to study and play for the Pacific-10 Conference member. "It’s been a lifelong dream for me, since I was 11 yrs old, to get accepted and to play golf for Stanford University," Puyat said. Puyat said that a huge part in his decision of choosing Standford was coach Conrad Ray aside from the school’s excellent practice facility and golf course inside the campus, he said, a huge "Coach Ray’s relationship with his players and team made an impact on me and I believe this kind of environment will bring out the best in me," he said. Other high-profile schools that tried to get Puyat’s services are University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Duke University. Ranked 28th overall by Golfweek, Puyat was victorious in the AJGA Under Armour/Hunter Mahan golf tournament.
