Cops probe dentist's fatal fall in Mandaluyong mall

Mandaluyong City police are investigating the fatal fall of a dentist in a mall in the city Thursday afternoon. Radio dzBB reported early Friday police are not discounting foul play in the death of dentist Mary Ann Magtoto, who fell from the fifth floor of the Shangri-La Plaza. GMA News' late-night television news Saksi showed a witness saying that the victim fell from the fifth floor and landed on the center portion of the second floor.
"Hindi niya itinukod ang kamay niya nang lumagpak siya (the victim did not show any effort to protect herself from the fall), the witness said. A man who identified himself as Dr. Peter Milaor claimed that victim was his cousin, and he positively identified her as Mary Ann. The report said Milaor claimed he was able to review the video recording of the mall's closed-circuit television (CCTV), which showed Mary Ann repeatedly going up and down the escalator, seemingly contemplating deeply on something. She was declared dead on arrival at the Medical City Hospital after her fall, prompting police to investigate if the incident was a suicide or a result of foul play. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
