I’m back, 'new' DSWD secretary tells colleagues
I'm back to serve with you. On this note, Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman formally assumed her post as head of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), this time under a new administration. Soliman received the DSWD flag from former acting secretary Celia Capadocia-Yangco during turnover ceremonies last Thursday. “I am back to continue the service with you," Soliman said, according to an article posted Friday on the DSWD website. DSWD officials, staff and regional directors witnessed the turnover ceremonies. Soliman headed the DSWD under the administration of then President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. But she and some colleagues in the Cabinet withdrew support for Mrs. Arroyo in 2005, in the wake of the "Hello Garci" scandal involving alleged poll fraud in the 2004 presidential race. She and nine Cabinet members who withdrew their support from Arroyo supported President Aquino's presidential campaign. — LBG, GMANews.TV
