Phivolcs: Magnitude-4.2 quake rocks east Visayas


A magnitude-4.2 quake rocked parts of Eastern Visayas early Sunday, but state seismologists said there was no initial report of damage or casualty. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 11:43 a.m. and was tectonic in origin. Phivolcs said the epicenter was 11 km. northwest of Ormoc City and was felt at Intensity III in Pastrana town in Leyte; and Intensity II in Palo and Tacloban, Leyte. No damage or aftershock was expected, Phivolcs said. Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey estimated the epicenter at about 20 km east-southeast of Tacloban, Leyte; 60 km west-northwest of Guiuan, Samar; 115 km south-southeast of Calbayog, Samar; or 590 km southeast of Manila. - KBK, GMANews.TV
