RP Youth 5 dumps Singapore, secures seat in FIBA Asia U-18
YANGON, Myanmar — For the third straight game, Nokia-Pilipinas was able to beat its opponent soundly and signified its strong intention of winning the SEABA Under-18 crown. The Filipinos dumped the Singaporeans, 78-40, for their third win in a row and eventually secure a ticket to the FIBA Asia Under-18 tournament in Yemen this September. “We have already made the next tournament. The boys were quite aggressive. They had a strong start that carried them all the way to the lopsided win," said coach Eric Altamirano following his boys’ third straight blowout win at the Thuwunna National Stadium here. The Filipinos have claimed the scalp of Malaysia and host Myanmar earlier. They will next face another lowly team in Laos Thursday at 2 p.m. (3:30 Manila time), before they wind up their campaign here with a game against Thailand. - RCJ, GMANews.TV
