Hunt on for deputy who shot dead Ilocos Sur fire marshal

Police in Ilocos Sur are tracking down the province's deputy fire marshal for the fatal shooting of the provincial fire marshal Tuesday night. A report on dzBB radio said deputy provincial fire marshal Rey Acena fled after shooting provincial fire marshal Superintendent Ruben Pascua, 54. Initial reports indicated the incident occurred in the victim's office in Vigan City before 9 p.m. Tuesday, when Acena showed up just as Pascua and some firemen were having dinner. Pascua invited Acena to his office, after which the firemen outside heard at least two gunshots. Acena was seen fleeing the area on a motorcycle, the dzBB report said. A separate report on dzXL radio said Pascua sustained gunshot wounds in the head and chest.
