FDA warns vs 11 more beauty products with mercury

Philippine health authorities warned the public Thursday against at least 11 beauty products that officials said exceeded levels of mercury. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said the products were found to contain impurities and contaminants that may pose a danger or injury to consumers. "In the interest of protecting public health and safety and pursuant to Section 12 of Republic Act 9711, the Food and Drug Regulation Officers of this Office (both Central and those in the regions) are hereby ordered to seize immediately the ... identified cosmetic products for custody from all outlets or establishments where they may be found," it said in Circular 2010-011 signed by director Nazarita Tacandong, and posted belatedly on the FDA website.
