Man dies after eating santol, report says

Eating too much santol fruit proved deadly for a 68-year-old man in Negros Occidental province in Western Visayas on Thursday night. William Prudente, a resident of Tiglawigan village in Cadiz City, was rushed to a hospital but doctors were unable to save him, a report on dzXL radio Friday said. His relatives said he ate four large santol fruits and swallowed the large seeds, shortly before doubling over in pain. Prudente's stomach pains prompted his relatives to rush him to the Cadiz Emergency Clinic, but doctors failed to save him. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
