Chinese pair dominates 200 fly at LA Grand Prix


LOS ANGELES — China's Yang Jiao and Yin Chen dominated the men's and women's 200 meters butterfly Friday at the Los Angeles Grand Prix swim meet. Yang had a time of 2 minutes, 8.40 seconds to win the women's event, while Yin topped the men in 1:56.92. Austrian Olympian Markus Rogan won the men's 200 backstroke in 1:59.46, while Kantinka Hosszu of Hungary won the women's 400 individual medley in 4:34.38 and Olympian Ryan Cochrane of Canada won the men's 400 freestyle in 3:50.78. American Olympian Nathan Adrian won the men's 100 in 48.71, ahead of Israel's Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or in 50.10 and Lars Persson of Sweden in 50.28. American Olympian Kate Ziegler won the 800 free in 8:25.89 for her second meet record. She lowered the meet record she set in Thursday's preliminaries. Kara Lynn Joyce beat 11-time U.S. Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin by .15 seconds to win the 100 free in 54.69. American Madison White upset Olympian Katie Hoff in the 200 backstroke, touching in 2:12.15 to Hoff's 2:12.79. – AP
