Announcement of Palace's communications group members postponed

With some details still unfinished, the scheduled announcement of Malacañang's communications group was moved from Monday to later in the week. Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the members of the communications group will be formally announced together with the release of the executive order on the reorganization of the Office of the Press Secretary and other concerned offices. "The President has formed his communications team. He is confident this team will fulfill its task to communicate the President's Contract with the Filipino people with the stakeholders of government," Lacierda said on Monday. In an ambush interview at Camp Aguinaldo, Aquino said his communications group's members will be named later in the week. "By Wednesday or Thursday ata sila magpapakilala sa inyong lahat (They'll introduce themselves to you all by either Wednesday or Thursday)," Aquino told reporters. Earlier in the day, political analyst and historian Manuel L. Quezon III announced that he is leaving the Philippine Daily Inquirer — where he wrote a column since February 2004 — as he will be joining Aquino's communications team. Quezon, who served as Aquino's inaugural spokesman, also resigned as a talent on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) where he hosted a show. ANC management announced his resignation, effective last Saturday on its Twitter account. Another ANC host, Ricky Carandang, resigned Friday from the channel. Carandang is said to be in charge of messaging in the communications team. Former Department of Transportation and Communications Undersecretary Sonny Coloma, who writes a column for BusinessWorld, is said to be in charge of the team's media operations. - Jam L.
