Scheduled brownouts hounding Cebu due to lower power supplies

No thanks to low power supply in the Cebu-Negros-Panay (CNP) grid, scheduled brownouts are hounding Cebu City again. Power outages lasting for one-and-a-half hours were being felt in Cebu and Mandaue cities and Naga and Minglanilla towns, a report on dzXL radio Tuesday said. Visayan Electric Company (VECO) spokeswoman Ethel Natera said Cebu Power Thermal 1 failed to supply power to Naga while the Leyte-Cebu submarine cable was overloaded. Authorities voiced concerns the CNP grid may soon reach critical levels in August as it has no reserve power, the report said. — RJAB Jr., RSJ, GMANews.TV
