Cebu police cars flunk roadworthiness tests, ordered grounded

Not even Cebu police were spared from the curse of flunking roadworthiness tests, as five patrol cars of the Cebu City police were grounded after showing problems. Police cars were subjected to the tests by the City Engineer's Office on orders of City Mayor Michael Rama, radio dzXL reported on Tuesday. The Toyota Innova patrol cars, found to have problems with brakes and signal lights, were ordered grounded, the dzXL report said. Rama ordered an inspection of all local government vehicles in the city to make sure they are safe. Cebu is still reeling from the impact of a series of bus accidents that had killed at least 40 people. The accidents were blamed on brake failure. — RJAB Jr./RSJ, GMANews.TV
