PNOC Renewables to bid out feasibility studies on hydro plants

State-owned PNOC Renewables Corp. is preparing to do a feasibility study for each of its seven hydro projects that will generate 200 megawatts and bring in investments totaling $335.76 million. Next month, PNOC Renewables plans to bid out the feasibility studies on Nalatang B Kabayan (45 MW), Jalaur (20 MW), Abuan (60 MW), Saltan B (24 MW), Pasil B (20 MW), Pasil C (22 MW), and Dulangan (18 MW). "PNOC Renewables is looking for partners for these projects as long as their proposals are viable," a company official said. A unit of Philippine National Oil Co., PNOC Renewables was formed to handle the government's geothermal, wind, and solar energy projects. Doing the feasibility studies would be the first step the company is taking for the hydro projects, which already secured the service contracts from the Energy Department. "The construction period will still take some time," the official said. —VS, GMANews.TV
