'Basyang' cancels NCAA games

Effects of tropical cyclone "Basyang" (Conson) forced the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) officials to cancel its games on Wednesday. Strong winds hit the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday night, cutting power lines, uprooting trees, and flooding several streets of the Philippine capital. Universities and colleges also suspended classes on all levels. Two games each in the juniors’ and seniors’ divisions were scheduled at The Arena in San Juan City but league officials decided to call them off. The games will be played after the final playdate of the first round. Highlighting the supposed-to-be quadruple header are San Sebastian against St. Benilde and Mapua taking on Emilio Aguinaldo College in the seniors division. NCAA games resume on Friday at The Arena with a winless Perpetual Help side facing a Joe Etame-led Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers while Arellano battles Mapua. – JVP, RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
