Iloilo to undergo inventory of public cemeteries
An inventory of public cemeteries in Iloilo City will be conducted to address congestion in its graveyards. The inventory, which may take a month, will involve sketch-mapping of tombs and niches at the Tanza Public Cemetery, a report made by Iloilo-based news site The News Today said. To be undertaken by the city government’s City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the inventory is expected to assign specific number to each tomb for easier identification and convenience to the public in time for this year’s All Saints’ Day, the report added. At least eight CENRO personnel and a cemetery caretaker will conduct the inventories, which will also be undertaken in Quintin Salas and Jereos cemeteries. Relatives of the deceased buried in the cemetery were advised to coordinate with the agency for proper documentation and filing of information about their dead. The CENRO is also expected to submit a recommendation-request to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog for projects that will address the city’s “very crowded" cemeteries. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
