Palace Commgroup to set up FB, Twitter accounts

Even as it waits for the executive order that will formalize its creation, Malacañang's Presidential Communications Group is already working on setting up a website and accounts on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Communications Group official Herminio Coloma said Saturday that this is aside from the "traditional" text and voice hotlines that will still accommodate feedback from the public. "Magse-setup tayo ng Facebook at Twitter account. Magse-setup tayo ng paraan sa paggamit ng cell phone or SMS service. Sisikapin natin lahat na channel of communication, traditional and nontraditional media, lahat gagamitin natin nang husto para masigla ang daloy ng communication sa ating bayan (We will set up Facebook and Twitter accounts aside from our text and call lines. We want to make sure all channels of communication, traditional or not, can be used to make the Palace accessible to the people)," Coloma said on government-run dzRB radio. He added that provincial stations and offices of government media outlets, including the state-run National Broadcasting Network (NBN), will also be tapped to get feedback from the public. President Aquino earlier ordered the creation of the Communications Group not only to help disseminate information about the government's plans but also to get feedback from the public. However, the Palace has yet to announce the mechanics of the Communications Group. Coloma admitted there are some kinks still being ironed out. "Fina-finalize ang executive order hinggil sa restructuring, bubuo ng presidential communications group. Hinihintay natin yan, hintayin natin maayos ang buong structure (The executive order is still being finalized. Kinks in the restructuring are still being ironed out. Let’s wait for things to work out)," he said. - TJD/VVP, GMANews.TV
