2 Pinays brutally killed in Kuwait in two separate incidents

Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Kuwait have been brutally murdered in two separate incidents in the past week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) disclosed on Tuesday. Astria Samad Abdul, a Maguindanao native, was tortured to death by her Egyptian-born Kuwaiti employers last week, the DFA reported in a news release posted on its website on Tuesday. Abdul’s body was left in the Kabd desert area after the torture and was recovered by the police last July 17, according to the DFA. Abdul’s employers, identified by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait as spouses Abdulaziz al Falekh and Rabagh Mustafa Sahata, already admitted to the crime and are currently facing criminal charges for the murder of the Filipina employee. Another OFW, Norhaisa Nasa Andaw from Cotabato, was allegedly stabbed 31 times by her Egyptian husband in the suburban area of Jabriya last week, the DFA said in the same release. Andaw’s husband, Atallah Mohammad, stabbed her due to jealousy. Mohammad allegedly fled right after committing the crime, and Kuwaiti courts have already issued a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against the slain OFW’s husband. The bodies of the two murdered Filipinas will undergo forensic examination before they are repatriated, the DFA said. Likewise, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo has ordered the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait to secure the services of private law firms to assist local prosecutors in handling the cases of the slain OFWs. According to latest government records, more than 20,000 Filipinos are currently working in Kuwait, mostly as domestic and production-related workers. - Andreo C. Calonzo, RJAB Jr., RSJ, GMANews.TV
