2 CAFGUs, two others wounded after Davao encounter

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Two government militia men were killed while two others — including a soldier — were wounded in three separate explosions in Corella town in Davao del Norte after an armed encounter with the New Peoples’ Army (NPA) rebels around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Danilo Dagupo and Herbie Tahali, members of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Units (CAFGUs), were killed while Cpl. Fortunato Dizon and another CAFGU member Joseph Autida were wounded, reports from the 10th Infantry Division said. Government troops were conducting patrol operations in Corella town when they clashed with some 30 NPA rebels, these reports said. Three loud explosions were heard that killed two CAFGU members on the spot and wounded two others. Despite the attack, Maj. Gen. Carlos Holganza, commander of the 10th ID, said they will continue in their mandate to safeguard the people from rebel threats. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
