Magnitude-4.2 quake shakes north Luzon — Phivolcs


A magnitude-4.2 quake rocked parts of northern Luzon Wednesday morning, but state seismologists said no damage to property was expected. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake was recorded at 9:15 a.m. and was tectonic in origin. It said the epicenter was traced to 133 km northeast of Laoag City. Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity II in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. No aftershock was expected from Wednesday morning's quake, Phivolcs said. For its part, the United States Geological Survey recorded the quake at magnitude 4.6. USGS said the epicenter was traced to 125 km north northeast of Laoag City; 160 km south southwest of Basco, Batanes; 500 km north of Manila; or 655 km south of Taipei, Taiwan. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
