Aquino sisters distribute relief goods to QC fire victims

Families who lost their homes to a fire that hit a squatters' area in Quezon City Tuesday received much-needed help from the sisters of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, a radio report said Thursday. Radio dzBB reported Thursday that Ballsy Aquino Cruz and Pinky Aquino Abellada went to the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center on Wednesday, which now serves as a temporary evacuation center for the families. The sisters distributed boxes of bottled water as well as old clothes, including those of Baby James Aquino-Yap, son of celebrity Kris Aquino Yap.

Some 400 families who lost their homes in the Barangay Vasra fire are still staying at the wildlife center named after the Aquino siblings' assassinated father. Meanwhile, the Quezon City government is now looking for a suitable location where the displaced families can rebuild their homes. Tuesday's fire also damaged offices of the Department of Agriculture. — RSJ/LBG, GMANews.TV
