PAGASA: Rains threaten to 'spoil' Noynoy's SONA

Rains threaten to mar President Benigno Simeon Aquino III's first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with rains are forecast on July 26. "Magkakaroon tayo ng pag-ulan (sa Lunes) lalo na sa hapon at gabi (There will be rains on Monday, likely in the afternoon and evening)," PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the present weather conditions, which he described as cloudy with scattered rain showers, will likely last "three to four" days. PAGASA's extended weather forecast for Metro Manila indicated cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms on Monday, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius. Interestingly, the extended weather forecast for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday indicated only "mostly" cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. On the other hand, Aurelio said a low-pressure area (LPA) spotted off Eastern Visayas has little chance of becoming a cyclone. — LBG, GMANews.TV
