Report: Fire razes 30 homes in Cebu City

At least 30 houses were destroyed in a predawn fire that hit a residential area in Cebu City Monday. Radio dzXL reported there was no initial report of casualties in the fire at Purok 8 in Camputhaw village in Cebu City. Initial investigation showed the fire started at 3:05 a.m., and firefighters needed 40 minutes to put it out. Senior Fire Officer 2 Roilen Maratas said they had a hard time fighting the fire because of the narrow streets. Arson investigators are looking into claims that an electrical short circuit at the house of one Jojo Norca caused the fire. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
