Bus bursts into flames in Taguig


A passenger bus burst into flames at The Fort in Global City, Taguig on Tuesday afternoon, a sketchy initial radio report said. Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, chief of the Taguig City Police, said no one was hurt after the incident happened along 3rd Avenue, 30th Street - near the St. Luke's Medical Center-Global City. Initial investigation showed that an explosion occurred in the red and white bus before it was engulfed by flames.

A separate radio dzBB said the passengers alighted the bus before it exploded at about 2:45 p.m. Despite the incident, traffic in the area was not snarled, even as security guards had already been deployed to maintain order in the area.

Fire investigators are eyeing faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the explosion, because the vehicle's battery compartment was seen open during their inspection. The fire has already been put out, the report added. –VVP, GMANews.TV
